Measuring the level of compaction or bearing capacity of the formation for unbound or partially bound layers (sub-grade, sub-base, base) and being able to get results immediately to make decisions is very important. Our range of geotechnical test equipment enables you to do this in applications that include road construction, cuttings, tunnels, trenches and embankments, railway track beds, airport runways, taxiways, aprons and parking areas, hard standing areas, landfill sites, dams including mine tailings dams, wind farms, temporary pads for mobile crane outriggers or piling rigs, building and temporary structure foundations, pipe & cable laying, electricity pylons / overhead transmission, tank farms and others.

Site characterisation is unarguably the most important, but also most “difficult”, component of geo-engineering. Our equipment is designed to improve the quality of site characterisation and reduce the difficulties involved.

ZFG 3000 Light Weight Deflectometer (LWD)

The Light Weight Deflectometer (LWD) with GPS is used for compaction control on unbound or partially bound layers (sub-grade, sub-base, base) by measuring the stiffness (modulus) directly in the field, according to ASTM E2835-11 (2015).

ZFG 3000 Dynamic CBR Extension

The Dynamic CBR Extension measures California Bearing Ratio (CBR) directly in the field and is a penetration test to evaluate the mechanical strength of subgrades and base courses.

PANDA Instrumented Variable Energy Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP)

The PANDA  is used for ground investigation and compaction control and is a portable method for evaluating soil strength. The PANDA is particularly good for testing in challenging conditions (remote, soft, marshy, over-water and hazardous locations or confined spaces).

PANDITO Ultra-light Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP)

The PANDITO is a simple to use layer by layer compaction control device used for pavement investigation for layers up to a max of 50 cm thickness.

GRIZZLY Dynamic Probing Super Heavy (DPSH)

The GRIZZLY is a self propelled compact rig used for ground investigation and compaction control with geotechnical drilling, window sampling, windowless sampling and Standard Penetration Test (SPT) sampling attachments, according to EN ISO 22476-2.

AX01 Plate Load Test

The AX01 Plate Load Test (or Plate Bearing Test) with GPS is used to determine the bearing capacity and the load-deflection relationship of soils and sub bases during geotechnical pavement investigation.

In geotechnical engineering, bearing capacity is the capacity of soil to support the loads applied to the ground. The bearing capacity of soil is the maximum average contact pressure between the foundation and the soil which should not produce shear failure in the soil.
