ZFG 2000A Asphalt Hardness Test

The ZFG 2000A Asphalt Hardness Tester from Zorn Instruments is designed to assess the stability of existing Asphalt layers.
The lifetime of Asphalt layers depends on environmental conditions. Sun radiation, frost and thaw periods together with the traffic load destroy the structure of Asphalt. The layer loses its mechanical properties like stiffness and elasticity. Cracks and holes appear and sections of Asphalt break out leaving the road impassable.
With the Asphalt Hardness Tester you are able to determine the hardness for broken and stable layers. This test quantifies the need for repair.
To assess the change in stability of the material (asphalt), the traditional test is to take a core sample and then put it in a press in the laboratory and squash it. Alternatively a ball test is used. To find out more, Contact Us.
The advantages over this conventional method are the ZFG 2000A Asphalt Hardness Tester is:
- Immediate feedback on the performance of the asphalt, without having to return to the laboratory
- Less destructive than taking core samples
- Accurate repeatable results
- One-man use: designed for field testing
- Easy to use: Push start and pull the drop weight to the top
- No additional loading vehicle or support is required
- Readings captured on SD-card for data memory (10,000 data sets) allowing immediate on-site results printing and data transfer to PC
- Data interpretation software allows data storage, analysis and manipulation and easy inclusion into reports
- No manual data recording (data recording / transposition errors eliminated)
- Graphical representation of the data
